2026 OUTLOOK
+ Lamar School enters the 2026 season with momentum after a strong 25–8 campaign and a second-round playoff appearance in MAIS 4A. Under head coach Matt Boone, the Raiders return a talented and experienced core highlighted by multiple college-committed pieces, positioning Lamar as a contender once again in District 2.
The lineup is anchored by a group of impact two-way players, starting with Sullivan Reed (2027, Mississippi State), a physical infielder/right-hander who sets the tone on both sides of the ball. Reed’s presence in the middle of the order and at the front of the pitching staff gives Lamar a true cornerstone, bringing high-level tools and competitiveness to every game. Jackson Whitcomb (2026, Pearl River CC) adds another premium two-way profile, providing reliability in the infield while also serving as a key arm. Whitcomb’s experience and consistency make him a steadying force within the Raiders’ core.
Luke Brady (2026, Mississippi Gulf Coast CC) brings versatility as a utility piece who can impact the game in multiple roles, while catcher Chase Putman (2027) provides stability behind the plate and continued offensive development. Nate Lee (2026) adds strength at first base with the ability to contribute on the mound, giving Lamar additional flexibility with lineup construction and pitching depth. In the outfield, Brody Mayatt (2027) and Hayes Lancaster (2027) supply athleticism and coverage, rounding out a lineup built on balance and depth.
On the mound, Lamar will again lean on Reed and Whitcomb to handle high-leverage innings and set the tone for the staff. Their ability to compete in big moments gives the Raiders a dependable top end, while the surrounding depth allows the coaching staff to manage workloads throughout the spring.
The next wave of talent is also beginning to emerge, with Walker Mims, Briggs Calvert, Kiptin Weir, and Hamp Haraala representing a group of underclassmen pushing for opportunities and adding long-term upside to the program.
With proven production, multiple college commits, and a strong two-way nucleus, Lamar School enters 2026 as one of the more complete clubs in MAIS 4A. If the Raiders continue to get consistent output from their core and build depth around their frontline arms, they have the makeup of a team capable of another deep postseason run.
