Austin Sharp
Alabama Scouting Director

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Jacksonville/Oxford/Montgomery area at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Baldwin County enters the 2026 season looking to build off a challenging 2025 campaign in Class 6A, Area 2, one that featured plenty of growth opportunities against high-level competition. While the Tigers finished 10-20 and missed the postseason a year ago, they return a strong core, particularly on the mound, that gives this group a clear identity heading into the spring.

The backbone of this team is its starting pitching, led by a proven trio of varsity arms. RHP Coen Lambeth (Coastal Alabama-South CC, 2026) projects as the ace of the staff after previously serving as a closer during Baldwin County’s Elite Eight run earlier in his career. Lambeth brings size and power to the mound and will anchor the rotation. He’s joined by RHP Braydon Bryars (2026), a four-year varsity starter who was the ace of last year’s staff, logging 46.1 innings with a 2.26 ERA while striking out 35 against just eight walks, and also hitting .370 at the plate. From the left side, LHP/OF Roan Wallace (2027) provides another reliable option, giving Baldwin County a strong left-handed presence who can impact games both on the mound and defensively in center field. Offensively, the Tigers will lean on a mix of returning experience and emerging underclassmen. INF Swayden Byrd (2027) profiles as a table-setter at the top of the order with speed and improving defensive consistency, while OF Mitchell Tuberville (2026) adds veteran presence in the outfield. Several younger pieces are expected to take on expanded roles, including C Jase Hadley (2029), who handled everyday catching duties at the JV level last season and has stepped into more of a leadership role, along with INF Wyatt Lee (2028), 1B Brayden Tindle (2028), and UTL Kris Denton (2028), whose versatility gives the Tigers lineup flexibility. OF Mitchell Tuberville (2026) should be another offensive contributor for the Tigers, helping round out a youthful but athletic group.

Looking ahead to 2026, Baldwin County will rely on its veteran starting rotation to keep games competitive while a young lineup gains valuable experience in one of the state’s toughest areas. As head coach Trent Higginbothem noted, “This team will combine a veteran starting rotation with a youthful lineup. We need to develop some more depth on the mound, and we will need some younger guys to step up in the lineup to experience success in a tough area.” If those younger bats continue to progress and pitching depth develops behind the frontline arms, the Tigers have a chance to take meaningful steps forward this spring.
