The Classic featured top teams and talent from across the state, with Prep Baseball on-site for the action.

Hosted by Georgetown High School at the historic Mike Johnson Park, this eight-team tournament showcased high-level competition.

Below are notes and videos highlighting standout performances from each team.

Taj Marchand, 2026, SS, James Island

Ole Miss signee. 6-2, 200-pound athletic frame that looks the part. Big hand pump in load with a long stride but makes up for it with high level bat speed and a short path. Hits the ball hard especially to pull side. Aggressive early in counts at times this look where he’d miss his pitch but when on time the ball jumps, lots of doubles in game and can see more over-the-fence juice in the tank. Played one game at 2B due to a previous minor arm injury, really trusts his loose/athletic arm across the infield. Ball carries to the bag with ease and shows good lateral range with ability to adjust arm slot based on body positioning. Also shows quick transfers and gets rid of the ball. Impact defender that plays free and with confidence. A lot to like in the profile and will be watched closely throughout the season by pro scouts.

Palmer Hornick, 2026, IF, Dorman

Virginia Tech signee. 5-11, 175-pound strong frame. One of the prettier left handed swings in the state and possibly the southeast showing a repeatable load/stride with minimal head movement and bat speed in the zone. Never seems fazed by the moment, good feel for the strike zone and takes what is given to him. Plays within himself, shortens up and peppers the holes on IF or can tap into some power with juice to both gaps and to pull side. A polished approach that will translate well to the next level.

Connor Wells, 2027, LHP, Dorman
