Durable and physical 6'4" 205 lbs. frame. Trichel has been one of the state's most consistent performers throughout the course of his high school career, and he turned in another quality start last Thursday that ended up in a no-decision. The Nicholls State recruit uses a longer arm stroke to release the ball from a 3/4 slot. His FB sat in the 85-87 mph range with occassional arm-side run and was at its best when he stayed on top of the baseball. Trichel's 74-79 mph breaking ball flashed various shapes; at times it had bigger "11-5" shape and other times it showed short, lateral break. The shape of his breaking ball is something that he'll need to refine when he arrives to Nicholls State next fall. It needs to be mentioned that his outing was in freezing temperatures, as he ended up tossing 3 shutout IP with 4 BB and 7 K's.
