5'9" 180 lbs. athletic frame with a strong lower-half. We had heard good things about the sophomore outfielder, so we were excited to get our first look at him last weekend, and we were able to sit on him for two games. The first thing that stands out is the way that he plays the game, as he plays with a high-motor. Hitting out of the three-hole, McCluskey works from a slightly open and upright stance, and uses a toe-tap load to get to center. He keeps his weight centered through his forward move and uses quick hands to deliver a flat path to contact with level extension. McCluskey took good swings all afternoon and picked up a line drive opposite-field RBI single in the night cap against Sulphur. On the defensive side of things, he also threw out a runner from centerfield trying to advance to third base. He's a good name to jot down out of the New Orleans, LA area, and is a guy that we are looking forward to seeing more of this spring and summer.
