Our state rankings for the 2027 class expanded to 210 players in total for this update, and there were plenty of movers and shakers throughout the list. Today, we take a look at a few guys that made a move up in this rankings update.

STATE RANKINGS RISERS (2027 CLASS)
Hayden Millen OF / OF / Benton, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 34 / POS: 10
Millen may not have the biggest frame at 5'7", 150 pounds, but his impact during the game is undeniable every time he takes the field. The left-handed hitting outfielder put together a phenomenal sophomore season for the Tigers and will be a key piece in their lineup moving forward. He slashed .500 (51-for-102) this spring with 5 doubles, 2 triples, 23 RBIs, 55 runs scored, and an impressive 43 stolen bases. One of the fastest players in the state, Millen clocked a 6.41 laser-timed 60 at one of our events last fall and was timed at 3.86 down the line during the season—making him a true game-changer on the basepaths.

Chase Marcotte C / 3B / Destrehan, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 30 / POS: 6
Plenty of sophomores made noise this spring, but few had a more complete two-way season than Marcotte. At the plate, the Wildcats standout slashed .415 with 7 home runs, 11 doubles, and a triple, driving in 37 runs and posting a stellar 1.212 OPS. When he wasn’t anchoring the defense behind the plate, he was making key contributions on the mound. Marcotte wrapped up the spring with a 2-0 record, 1 save, and 23 strikeouts over 23 innings, further solidifying himself as one of the top all-around players in his class.

Grant Vollmer RHP / OF / University Lab, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 38 / POS: 4
Long and lean at 6’7”, 205 pounds, Vollmer has a high-upside frame with plenty of room to add strength. The sophomore right-hander turned in a standout season for the Cubs, going 7-2 with a save and a 1.82 ERA. He emerged as one of the more intriguing arms at this year’s LHSAA State Tournament. Vollmer got the nod in Game 3 of the championship series and earned a no-decision after working 5 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts over 95 pitches (58% strikes). He operates with a quicker tempo and strides slightly across his body, which adds deception by helping him hide the ball. His high release point and long limbs created steep downhill plane, making his fastball—83-86 mph, touching 88—tough to square up. His 73-74 mph breaking ball showed the best shape we've seen from him yet, with tighter spin and sharper bite.

Brady McCluskey OF / LHP / Brother Martin, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 26 / POS: 7
5'9" 180 lbs. athletic frame with a strong lower-half. The left-handed hitting sophomore outfielder hit in the three-hole all spring long for the Crusaders and finished the year hitting .318 with 8 doubles, 3 triples, 28 runs batted in, 24 runs scored, and only struck out 8 times while drawing 18 walks. McCluskey works from a slightly open and upright stance, and uses a toe-tap load to get to center. He keeps his weight centered through his forward move and uses quick hands to deliver a flat path to contact with level extension. He makes excellent swing decisions, can hit the ball to all fields, and plays with a high-motor.
