6/17/14 - Miller is an athletic, wide shouldered 6-foot-4, 190-pound LHP,  He hit the top velo of the day at 91 MPH, sitting 84-86 MPH.  He has a high 3/4 release with run on his fastball.  His curveball had 1-to-7 shape with sharp late break at 68-72 MPH.  During the scrimmage, Miller had command of his change-up thrown with near fastball arm speed and arm side release at 71-73 MPH. Miller is a pitcher to watch in the 2016 class, and keeps continuing to improve in mechanics and velocity.

1/20/14 – Miller is a 6-foot-4 190-pound lefty.  He has a very projectable frame and has shown a good increase in velocity since his last event.  Miller has a loose, easy arm action that produced and event-best 84 MPH fastball.  He has a repeatable delivery with a ¾ arm slot.  Miller showed the ability to throw three pitches in the zone for strikes.  His fastball was consistently down in the zone at 80-84 MPH and his curveball had a sharp 1/7 break at 71-72 MPH.  Miller’s change-up was thrown at near fastball arm speed at 74-75.  Miller will be player to watch in the 2016 class as he continues to develop.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound left handed throwing Miller has a lanky frame and shows some promise on the mound. Miller delivers from a high ¾ arm slot with good rhythm and easy effort. His mechanics are repeatable and he showed good feel for his pitches. Miller’s fastball sat 74-77 mph, topping at 78-mph with slight arm side movement down in the zone. Miller showed he could throw his fastball for a strike on both sides of the plate. His breaking ball was thrown 60-62 mph and he also threw a straight change up with near fastball arm speed 66-71 mph. As he continues to progress in his career, Miller should see a spike in velocity and has the potential for be an effective front of the line starter with a few mechanical tweaks.

3/11/19: Tall, large framed lefty at 6-foot-4, 240 pounds. Pitches exclusively from the stretch on the far third base side of the rubber. Keeps his delivery very simple; tall and fall with no extra movements. Sets his hands at the belt and lifts just a bit to create some rhythm before hand break into a full arm path. Hides the ball well throughout his path and releases from a high three-quarter slot. Has a smaller leg lift to slightly below his waist, just enough to create some flow in his delivery. Works at a slower pace, keeping the game at his speed. After throwing 45 pitches though the first two innings, Miller settled into a groove the last four, finishing with six scoreless innings of one-hit, shutout baseball while throwing 101 pitches. He even endured a couple rain delays to repair the mound and a 40 minute half-inning that included four Texas pitching changes. His fastball sat 89-92 mph throughout, while mixing in an 80-82 slider to both the back foot and back door of right-handed hitters. The slider played plus with the combination of its hard, late action and control. His third pitch was an effective 78-80 mph changeup thrown to his armside. Overall, Miller showed control of three pitches, all of which generated repeated swing/miss. (Seifert)

11/4/18: Large frame with length in arms and solid mature body showing strength through torso and legs; sloped shoulders with high waist. Stretch only delivery with hands tight at waist staying with balanced front knee and small tuck before rotating quickly showing a very late and explosive arm. Arm stays behind the back making ball hard to pick up until release point and helps pitches jump on hitters. Struck out five in two inning pitched with a 93-95 mph fastball, topping at 97. Pitched played plus with small armside action at the plate; extra life up through the zone. Able to move pitch in/out with average control and fringe command; missed up and armside. Above average curveball at 81-84 mph showing 2/7 action and hard late bite. Ability to backdoor for strike out. Changeup at 85-87 mph flashed above average with heavy arm side sink and ability to double-up pitch for swing and miss. Used more in 2nd inning after utilizing CB more in 1st. Everything came out of his arm hard and attacked the zone challenging hitters. Looks to be the Ace of the staff with a top round draft profile. (Ozella)

8/15/18: Miller was highlighted earlier in the Cape season- here. At six-foot-five, 220 pounds, Miller has a tall and durable frame. He worked hard on his mechanics this summer and that hard work came to fruition in a relief appearance on July 20 as he held 93-96 mph (touching 97) with his fastball for three innings. It showed late arm side life when down and riding life when up in the zone. Also flashed a plus slider at 82-86 mph which showed very sharp tilt at times, as well as a deceptive tumbling changeup at 84-88 mph. The command of all his pitches was spotty and is a work-in-progress, but overall it was explosive, first round stuff when he was on time and on top of the ball. The 2019 draft looks to be full of college hitters, but lacks top arms. Although still a bit of a wild card, with continued improvement and consistency this spring, Miller could become one of the top college arms selected this June. (Fitt/Seifert)
