Stockhausen stands in at 5-foot-11, 165- pounds with a lean athletic frame. Ran a 7.79 – 60, slightly improved from his recorded 7.81 in October 2016. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet at shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding his hands just in front of the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch his trigger is a knee raise into a stride forward while his hands move back and down slightly to get into his hitting position. Utilizes good lower body rotation getting whole frame involved in the swing. Has quick hands to the hitting zone with a level bat path throughout into a high two handed finish. Demonstrated line drive ability up the middle and to the pull side during batting practice round. Recorded an exit velocity of 84 MPH, up from two recorded readings of 74 MPH (February 2016) and 78 MPH (October 2016). Defensively- Good approach to baseball. Could be more aggressive with his crow hop gaining ground towards the target. Good outfielder arm action but could be more downhill. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 74 MPH, just shy of his 78 MPH recording in October 2016. Pitching- Sets up in the middle of the rubber with a simple side step into a high knee raise above his hip crease. Has good separation with a loose arm releasing at a high ¾ arm slot. Mechanics are smooth and fluid with a strong follow through. Fastball runs well to the arm side and was consistent 78-81 MPH. Change up showed a good break down that was thrown consistently for a strike at 65-68 MPH. Slider came out up with little movement. Will get better with more work and was recorded at 65-66 MPH.
Downstate Preview (October 2, 2016)
Stockhausen, a 2019 corner infielder/pitcher, stands at 5-foot-10 and weighs a solid 158 pounds, he ran a 7.81 60. Offensively- Lower half begins with feet shoulder width apart, knees with a slight bend and weight centered. Hands start in front of the back shoulder, with the back elbow straight off the back shoulder and uses a pre-pitch bat wiggle to get ready. Initiates the launch phase of the swing with a slight lift of the front foot with minimal movement towards the pitcher. Hands stay idle during the front foot movement. Showed strength in driving the ball down the line to the pull side gap. Recorded a bat exit velocity of 78 MPH and increase of 4 MPH from February’s event. Defensively- Strong-armed third-baseman that showed good agility and fluid movements to the ball. Pre-pitch movement is the traditional step hop. Receives the ball out in front of the body. Funnels the ball to the center of the body, transferring the ball from the center creating a shorter throwing action. Throws showed plus carry and good accuracy. Registered an arm velocity of 78 MPH from third base. Pitching- Starts center rubber with hands held in front of the chest. Uses a drop step to first base, while the hands come down below the belt. Gets to the gathered position with the lead knee getting as high as the chest and hands getting back to chest height. Showed free and easy arm action, throwing from a mid-high ¾ arm slot. Fastball showed arm side run, and was able to get more action with the two seam fastball. Fastball top velocity of 78 MPH was an increase 3 MPH from February. During the intra squad game showed a willingness to attack the strike zone and challenge hitters. Curveball showed good depth and was tight with 11-to-5 spin. Curveball top velocity was registered at 65 MPH. Change-up showed good depth and solid spin as well, registering a to velocity of 64 MPH, a very good differential off the fastball.
