Thomas Cooper: RHP/1B, (2027) Shenendehowa, NY. 6-foot, 150-pound lanky slim build. Projectable and athletic at the plate, Cooper had an exit velocity of 79 mph. (64.4 mph bat speed average). (20.2 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced wide stance with a controlled load, then used a small leg kick. Bat speed is developing, exhibits a loose flat swing plane and level finish. Found some barrels with some loud contact. Line drive approach. Athletic projectable while in the infield, made throws up to 73 mph; has developing soft hands, a natural exchange, and developing athletic feet. Movements laterally were developing athletically and he fields the ball out front. Showed a loose arm action and consistent accuracy to the bag. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 8.1. Projectable and athletic on the mound, used a high ¾ arm angle and a loose consistent arm action while showing developing arm speed. Feel type pitcher and showed some effort. Showed consistent balance point and in line shoulders. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Threw his fastball 74-75 mph; has control arm side in the zone and running action. (Max spin 1979; Avg 1915). Threw a sharp changeup (70-71) with gradual fading action and arm side in the zone command. His slider (66-67) had glove side in the zone command and tight slurvey action. (Max spin 1872; Avg 1780).
Physical: 6-0, 150 pounds; Wiry, lean build. 8.3 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Short take back with the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a flat swing path with a late one hand finish. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 78 MPH via Trackman.
Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; static during pre-pitch while utilizing a quick first step. Hands are out in front with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 70 MPH.
Pitching: Uses a center rubber setup while using a side step. Mid chest leg drive with a slight lean over the belt. Has a moderate stride landing inline with the plate. Moderate arm swing while wrist hooks behind back; standard 3/4 slot. Spins off 1B side with finish. FB: Peak velo of 73 MPH, while sitting 70-73 MPH; arm side run with sink. CB: 65-67 MPH; spots and expands.
Thomas Cooper: 1B/RHP, (2027) out of Shenendehowa, NY. is a 5-foot-10, 138-pound two-way prospect. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 70 mph with a (56.8 mph bat speed average) and (18.6 mph hand speed average). Cooper begins in an athletic, balanced stance with the hands set just off the back shoulder. He uses a short stride to trigger a simple, flat swing that stays on plane and has good extension. In the infield, he was 67 mph across the diamond, while showing a clean exchange, sure hands, and smooth consistent feet. In the 60-yard dash, he recorded a time of 9.08. On the mound, Cooper works out of a long, high ¾ slot that produces a fastball that sits 69-70 mph (Max spin 1869; Avg 1742) with some arm side run. The delivery is easy and direct. He gets to a good position at the top, before heading down the mound in line. He lands square and finishes over his front leg. Cooper also featured a sweeping curveball (58-60 mph) (Max spin 1707; Avg 1613).
