Willoughby Puryear: 1B/LHP, (2026) Trumansburg, NY. 6-foot-2, 160-pound athletic projectable frame. Projectable and athletic during batting practice, the left-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 83 mph. (68.6 mph bat speed average). (22.8 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced wide stance with a low load, then used a small stride. Bat speed is developing, shows an uphill loose swing plane and level finish. During his round he produced loud contact and found some barrels. Gap to gap approach. Athletic and projectable in the infield, displayed a velocity of 80 mph; has a natural exchange, developing soft hands, and developing athletic feet. Fielded the ball out front with developing athletic movement laterally. Showed a quick arm action and consistent accuracy to the bag. Projectable athletic on the mound, used a high ¾ arm angle and a consistent loose arm action while showing developing arm speed. Up-tempo type pitcher and uses some effort. Displays in line shoulders and a consistent balance point. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Sat with his fastball at 75-76 mph; has control arm side around the zone and running action. (Max spin 2059; Avg 1988). Has sweeping action and glove side around the zone control on his curveball (64-65). (Max spin 1882; Avg 1853). His changeup (70-72) had arm side command and gradual fading action.
Physical: 6-foot-1, 145 pounds; Long, slender build. 8.35 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet wide spread; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Short take back with the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Drifts into contact while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a compact swing path with a two handed finish.More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 82 MPH via Trackman. Displayed pull side pop with an above average sweet spot %.
Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; uses prep step while sitting back. Hands are out in front while funneling to the hip before transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 75 MPH.
Physical: Ultra-projectable 6-foot, 140lb frame. 8.18 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Wider, crouched stance with loose, lower hands to start. Utilized a stretched backload on time with lift and replace stride to initiate the swing through a lengthy, whippy/flat path into the hitting zone. Middle-middle approach, repeated the actions at the plate, and recorded a T77 mph bat-exit velocity (73 mph AVG). Recorded 56% sweet spot rate.
Defensively: The first baseman demonstrated a soft glove hand from a narrow base, releasing from a ¾ slot to the target. Average footwork, simple actions, and didn’t try to push pace. 61 mph arm-strength.
Pitching: LHP - The southpaw worked off the left side of the rubber with a deep rocker step. High leg lift that uses momentum to swing down the slope, held the line, H ¾ slot, down action on 71-72 mph FB. Mixed short horizontal 61-63 mph CB for strikes, 1/7 tilt.
