Jackson Young: C/3B, (2021) Stillwater, OK. 6-foot-1, 200-pound slim frame. During batting practice, the switch hitter displayed an exit velocity of 91 mph, showing his strength and power ability. Started in a balanced stance with a small load, then used a short stride to start his swing. Bat speed was above average, showed level swing plane and high finish. He found a few barrels with some loud contact. Gap to gap approach. While catching, had quick feet and transfers on his throw downs, recording a 1.93-2.10 pop time, best position velocity throwing to second was registered at 77 mph; has sure hands, a fluid exchange and quick feet. Showcased a physical 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame with advanced strength in his actions. The switch-hitter mirrors from both sides, beginning with a balanced, open stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path through the hitting zone. Generated a whippy barrel with advanced hand speed through contact point yielding lift to the middle of the field. Registered an 87 mph bat-exit velocity off the tee and ran a 7.46 60-yard dash. The backstop demonstrated adequate receiving skills with minimal body sway at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 1.97-2.01 on accurate throws of 76 mph from the crouch utilizing a strong lower half and quick straight-line footwork coupled with a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot. Displayed adequate blocking skills beating the ball to the spot and creating downward chest angles on both sides of the plate.

Setup was comprised of a wrapping load and a balanced an athletic stance. Bat speed was quick, used a level swing plane and a high finish. His swing is stronger from the right side with some steepness, still developing from the left-side. He displayed a plus arm with strong throw downs to second that hit 77 mph for showcase pop times 1.98-2.02; had a fluid exchange, firm hands and rhythmic footwork. Shows advanced receiving with soft hands. Using a compact arm action, he showed consistent accuracy to the bag from an-over-the-top slot. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.63

Offensively, the switch hitter bats from a slightly open and athletic stance with some rhythm in his hands from the left and an open and front foot heavy set-up from right. Uses a smooth reverse toe-tap load before launching his hands on a slightly uphill path from the left. From the right he uses rocking load and short stride with a late heal plant before sending his hands on a flat path to contact. In BP shows a middle to opposite field flat approach from the right, and an all fields approach with some lift and pop from the left, 84 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.53 second 60. Defensively, receives from a slightly narrow, but balanced base with quiet hands. On throw downs, shows deliberate footwork and throws from a short arm stroke coming through an over the top slot with some accuracy at 70 mph to second base with showcase pop times of 2.09-2.28. In the game, was 0-for-2, but showed a good eye, earning two free bases.

Offensively, the switch hitter bats from an athletic, open, and slightly front foot heavy set-ups from both sides of the dish. Uses a smooth load, front side coil and late heel plant from both sides and slightly long stride from the left side. In BP, shows a middle to pull approach from the left side with lots of barrels late in his round. From the right-side, shows an all fields approach with all barrels and some pop, 85 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.53 60. Defensively, shows advanced receiving from a quiet set-up with soft hands.
