Tibbits is another left-handed bat that showed well on Saturday night. The uncommitted 2023 has a mature approach at the dish and the hit tool really took a step forward in 2021. The juice continues to come as Tibbits has added more muscle throughout the winter. The bat will need to continue to produce as the 6-foot-3, 225-pound first baseman looks ahead to the college level.
Body type: 6-foot-1, 230-pound physical frame.
Swing mechanics: Simple load into his lower half tht gets into sync with his hands.
Hit: Swings with intent, and has true ball flight to the middle part of the field.
Power: Pop to the middle of the field with even more to come.
Offensive projection: TBD.
Field: Does a nice job with the glove. Footwork needs to continue to develop, solid overall defender.
Throw: Clean with the transfer, accurate throws. Arm strength is still developing.
Defensive Projection: Firstbase.
Body Type: 6-foot-1, 230-pound physical frame.
Mechanics/Delivery: Smooth and efficient delivery that requires minimal effort.
Fastball: Fastball works out of a ¾ slot at 74-76 mph, the pitch works downhill with slight cutting action.
Curveball: Curveball has 1/7 shape and shows developing depth at 66-67 mph.
Changeup: Changuep is thrown with near fastball arm speed. The pitch shows regular cutting action at 63-65 mph.
Pitchability: Low effort delivery, fastball gets on hitters. Breaking ball has potential to create some swing and misses. Overall good job controlling the strike zone.
