2023 Niagara commit LHP Matt Marsh put together one of the best bullpens at the New Year Open and looked noticeably stronger since we saw him in the fall. Now 6-foot-2, 195-pounds and the fastball sat 87-88 T89 throughout the entire bullpen with lots of strikes. Tight slider with late sweeping action at 79-80mph. Some effort in the delivery but everything was clean on the mound. Good start to the year for one of the top 2023 arms in Ontario.
We had our first look this year at 2023 Matt Marsh, a recent Niagara University commit. Although there were no radar guns with players slowly progressing through their programs, the body is looking stronger than we saw in the fall. Now 6-foot-1, 185-pounds, the left-hander continues to move well on the mound with athleticism. We had Marsh up to 86 mph at the Jr. Future Games and he will look to top that on Monday at the New Year Open. Marsh is the No. 11-ranked player in Ontario’s Class of 2023.
2021 Jr. Future Games
2024 left-hander Matt Marsh immediately stood out today once he stepped on the mound with his projectable, 5-foot-11, 176-pound frame. He pounded the zone with a fastball sitting 81-83, topping out at 84 and picked up a ton of swing and miss on the pitch. Although he didn’t need to use it much, he showed the ability to spin the curve. It wasn’t just the size and velo that stood out from Marsh as he showed athletic movements on the mound and bounced off the bump well to make defensive plays. The two-way player from Team Ontario swung the bat well on Scout Day, hitting line drive after line drive and he showed the ability to hit in game today with a hard ground ball up the middle.
