One of the better uncommitted prospects in the ‘26 class that is a fine operator behind the dish. Quality catch/throw ability was on full display last week at our event. Gagne posted a 1.94-1.97 secs pop time and clocked in at 77 mph with the arm. Finished the day off with the stick showing a well synced up swing from the right-side. Gagne will be a name to check in on during the ‘25 summer campaign.

Our staff has been a fan of Gagne since we saw him last winter in Ottawa and he continues to flash movements and metrics that will allow him to play baseball in college. Smaller stature at 5-foot-10, 165-pounds and it’s a short, simple right-handed swing that consistently generates line-drive contact to all fields. Peak exit velocity of 88.8mph and distance of 315ft. Showed well behind the dish last winter with pop-times ranging between 1.97-2.00 with some athleticism back there. Overall, an interesting prospect in the Ottawa region that will get looks from NorthEast schools over the next 1.5 years.

Scouting Report: 5-foot-9, 155-pound, lean athletic frame, with room for added weight gains. A right-handed hitter, even feet, simple pick up and put down, is on time with weight back on foot strike. The hands are loose, swing is level, with a line drive approach to the middle of the field. The exit velocity was clocked at 86 mph, with more in there. Defensively, behind the plate, shows twitchy actions and movements. The glove is strong on the catch, arm is short and quick from a higher slot, clocked at 74 mph. The pop time was recorded at 1.97-2.0. a sleeper, tons to like, good runner for a catcher.
Exit Velocity: 86 mph
Arm Velocity: 74 mph
Sixty-Yard Dash: 7.06

‘26 C/RHP Shayne Gagne didn’t possess some of the physical traits as some of the other players highlighted here, but it was the short right-handed stroke and ability to work to all fields that caught our staff’s attention. Younger and undersized right now at 5-foot-7, 140-pounds with line-drive approach, working gap-to-gap throughout his rounds with a peak exit velocity of 82.6mph. The metrics don’t immediately pop out but those numbers should continue to climb as he begins to mature, fill out and add strength.
