Mason Shelton (‘27, Hardin Valley) The young catcher was extremely impressive once again for the Hawks, with the hit tool getting better and better by the day it seems. Shelton would have a total of 6 runs batted in 2 games with a triple and a home run. The ‘27 grad is way past his years behind the plate in all actions, receiving, blocking and throwing. He played third in the second game and showed some discomfort, mostly inexperienced, but I suspect it won't take long for him to be extremely comfortable in the field. Very high follow for the young standout going into the summer.
Mason Shelton (2027, HVA) The 5-11, 150 lbs C/1B/OF made a great impression on tuesday. The Freshman has hit his way into regular playing time for a Hardin Valley team who is looking to make another deep playoff run this year. Shelton showed an advanced receiving ability behind the plate, with soft hands he is a pitcher's friend on borderline pitches. At the plate he features a smooth left handed swing that produced loud contact in every at bat, going 2 for 3 with a wall scraping double. A ‘27 grad, he has a still growing and developing body. With an advanced feel for his swing already and a workhorse behind the plate will be one to follow going forward.
