The fourth-year junior catcher has produced a breakout season at the plate, largely a result of improved patience and pitch selection. His ISO has nearly doubled (.164 to .276), while his SO rate has remained unchanged and his BB rate quadrupled from 2022 (4.1% to 16.5%). At 6-foot-3, 220 pounds Brock is an average athlete with good overall body strength. The right-handed hitter is able to produce above average raw power with this strength and some length in his swing. His top exit velocity in the three game series was 105 mph on a line drive single. Behind the plate he showed average arm strength with below average throwing accuracy against Southern Miss. Both his receiving and blocking looked to be works-in-progress as he raises his head while blocking. Regardless of the needed defensive improvements, there are not too many catchers in college baseball with average arm strength who have a chance to hit. Expect Brock to hear his name called in the later rounds of Day Two this July.
