A West Coast Games alum and an All-Region honoree as a sophomore, had a solid year as a junior with a .312 BA after posting a .406 avg as a sophomore in 86 PA’s. Leavitt’s calling card is solid avg to plus defensive ability at the hot corner, and can see a move to the keystone at 2B in profiling much better at the position with less power than needed for the position. A high contact bat, Leavitt’s hands on defense are quick and sure with the ability to move well side to side and plays from the ground up and out front, in getting the ball out of the glove quick, and syncs up the feet and gets his front shoulder closed off and makes online, strong accurate throws to all bases. A solid baseball player with instincts for the game and comes from an athletic family, where his mother Stacy is a HS Volleyball Coach and played collegiate volleyball at Dixie College and Colorado Mesa U, while older brother Jagun was most recently an OF at Dixie State, now Utah Tech over a 5 year period. Coaches this kid can play and recruiters need to take notice.
The brother of former Utah Tech U OF’er, Jagun Leavitt, Logan showed well on workout day, as he took a crisp, clean INF w/plenty of arm and made a really smooth, EZ play in front, on a hot shot right at him at 3B in game play and finished the play w/a strong throw to 1B. Shows smooth actions at 3B and has educated feet and gets into proper throwing position w/his front shoulder closed and is very accurate with his throws. At the plate, Logan shows more hard LD contact vs power and through the gap type now, but the swing is controlled and show’s rhythm and timing to square balls up consistently. Hitting .406 as a sophomore at the DH spot, with a senior at 3B, Logan will man the hot corner over the next two years for the Flyers, and the power should come as he learns to lift the ball and get stronger with maturity. Look for bigger things to come as we move forward, but the foundation to hit and field is currently in place to build from.
Young 15 yr old medium compact build with some present strength and room to add more as he matures. Needs to maintain and hit the gym and get in the best shape of his life. Has the baseball acumen and bloodlines (Brother Jagun - Dixie State) to play at the next level. Corner profile and will have to hit w/ the run tool well below avg. But he can pick it and hit. Defensively has the hands and educated feet to play 3B w/solid instincts and soft supple hands to make plays. Does things easy and is in sync with online throws. Bat is advanced for his age, despite some below hand and bat speed, he makes up for it w/really good timing and sees pitches and controls the K zone. Sprays balls on a line and uses the whole field and can hit pitching above his age of play. Does play up a year in the summer and made the switch this past summer and impacted his 16U club immediately. Look for a strong sophomore campaign for a perennial state power program.
