Curtis had a major influence in allowing the Fox River Bandits to brew a comeback on Saturday evening, as the 5-foot-11, 175-pound athlete struck out nine batters in 4.2 innings of relief, only allowing one run. This allowed his team to erase a deficit and tie the ballgame up, as Curtis used a mid-80s fastball and a sharp breaking ball to keep hitters off the barrel, limiting a strong offense to just one hit.
Curtis impressed at the plate on Friday, working a number of quality at-bats with an all-fields approach. The incoming senior displayed a simple right-handed swing and stayed through the ball. Also generated easy bat speed that led to a deep pull-side double during Friday’s contest. In the field, Curtis moves well to both sides and showed off soft hands to make a couple impressive plays.
Commanded the zone throughout the outing. Loose arm with a little stabby action in the back. Fastball was 84-86 mph which was efficiently pitched with a 69-72 mph, 11/5-shaped curveball. Ball came out smoothly with both pitches.

Curtis is worth monitoring as a prospect, and he brings an interesting arsenal onto the mound. He’s a lean 5-foot-11, 175 pounds with a quick and clean arm, and he his low-80s fastball spins at noteworthy rates (2,135 rpm on average) and it really hops through the zone and features some late arm-side movement at times, leaving a steep release height that helps it jump. His two breaking pitches, a curve and slider, and works in progress but you can imagine him honing one or both into a go-to offering.
