Last year at this same event Rodriguez impressed our staff with his advanced defensive abilities for his age and standing at 5-foot-5, 135-pounds we hoped that he was a late bloomer physically and late bloomer he was. On Saturday, Rodriguez showed up roughly four inches taller than last year and added on some strength to his still lanky 5-foot-9, 140-pound frame. Despite this growth spurt, Rodriguez still possesses a refined defensive skillset as he is easily able to move from side-to-side on the infield dirt and is able to make accurate throws from a number of different arm angles. Offensively, the lefty profiles as a top of the order type player with his ability to hit low liners to the entire field, and his hardest hit ball registered at 86 mph.

Rodriguez was a standout defender for his age. Built at a wiry 5-foot-9, 135-pounds, Rodriguez traveled low to ground balls, utilizing light quick feet across the infield. His arm played above size with his well organized feet and created momentum into throws that carried well and accurately. His glove to hand exchanges were clean and perhaps the quickest of the bunch.
