+ RFR. RHP Nicholas Heisl (Germantown, WI) stands at 6-foot, 170-pounds with lean strength and room to add to his frame. An impact transfer arm with upside throughout his arsenal and innate feel to spin multiple sharp breaking balls. Showed feel to repeat a simple delivery throughout the ‘pen. The fastball sat 86-88 T89 mph with life out of the hand with an average spin rate of 2,483 rpms. Two breaking balls, the curveball sat 74-75 mph with an average spin rate of 3,205 rpms with sharp downer action. The slider was thrown harder at 76-78 mph with an average spin rate of 3,215 rpms with big two plane action. Both breaking balls offer swing and miss upside against either handed batter and have played in and out of the zone in game as a prep. Rounding off his arsenal Heisl flashed a changeup at 81-82 mph.

Standing at 6-foot, 150-pounds Heisl has one of the more unique pitch arsenals in the state. Heisl pitches backwards and throws a majority of offspeed pitches, his fastball sits in the low-80s and topped out at 84 mph in this look. Mainly relied on his two different breaking balls that both have swing-and-miss action and both had multiple whiffs on the day, a 70-73 mph curveball that played with a sharp break from an 11/5 shape, and a slider that sat at 74-75 that played sharp with sweeping action. Heisl’s innate feel for spin makes him one of the more intriguing arms in the state's senior class and will be one our staff monitors as he heads into college this fall.

Heisl came on as a surprise in a starter’s role for his team, standing at a wiry and projectable 6-foot, 150-pound frame. The right-hander topped out at 85 mph with the fastball, sitting between 82-84 mph throughout his four-inning start. The uncommitted prospect only allowed one hit, flipping up a 12/6 curveball that earned consistent swings and misses. Heisl’s two-pitch mix was noteworthy, raising his stock as a pitcher as he enters his senior year in the fall. 

Heisl stands a projectable 6-foot, 150 pounds with an athletic frame. His delivery shows good movement patterns with proper sequencing between his lower and upper half. His fastball topped out at 84 mph with high spin metrics (2583 RPM’s) on the pitch. His 70-71 mph curveball has an alarming 3000 RPMs with 10/4 shape and break at the plate. His slider featured huge sweeping action and spun at an astonishing 2900 RPM’s. The ability to spin the baseball with both the fastball and his secondary weapons has put Heisl firmly on the list of names to know in the state going forward.
