Peterson has consistently impressed us from the mound in the past, most recently on a couple different looks this past spring, but at the State Games, he would showcase a smooth LH bat, with a narrow setup, a long stride that gains ground, and a flat bat path. Fluid motions on the mound, quick, high tuck into a drop-and-drive delivery, loose and fluid arm with big arm-side run (T81.8 mph). 5-foot-10, 150-pound frame with room to fill out.

Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 120 in the state’s junior class, standing at a wiry 5-foot-11, 153 pound frame. Shaefer came on in relief and tossed 6.2 scoreless innings in relief, striking out five batters and walking one. The left-hander can really pitch, locating two pitches in the zone consistently, an upper-70s fastball and a breaking ball with late two-plane action. Each pitch earning a handful of swing and miss, neither getting hit hard throughout the outing.

Peterson, an athlete, ran a solid 7.13 seconds 60 yard dash showing some quickness and burse to his gate. On the mound, the junior deployed a quick tempo’d delivery and ran the heater up to 82 mph with feel for the zone. He paired the fastball with a sweeping slider and a change up with heavy fading action in the hitting zone. With the bat, Peterson showcased a smooth left-handed swing and produced a notable max exit velocity of 91 mph. Additionally, Peterson proved he is a capable defender at first base with smooth actions and feel around the bag. Overall, Peterson had a nice day and has a chance to pop once he adds strength.
