+ Braxton Thiede, LHP (Jefferson): Thiede was one of the top performers of the Wisconsin State Games. The left-hander stands in as a lean 5-foot-8, 166-pound frame, working out of a downhill, high kick motion with clean, quick arm action, getting full extension in the back half, working from a ¾ slot. Showing a two-pitch mix, the fastball was sitting 78-81 mph, T82 mph, playing with lots of ride and slight cut, averaging 18 IVB (23 IVB max). The curveball was sitting 62-65 mph, with sweep, averaging 12.3 HM. Through his two-inning outing, Thiede was generating soft contact, attacking with the fastball, and generating whiffs with the curveball, while working with a high pace on the mound. At the plate the right-handed hitter shows feel for the barrel and the ability to make consistent contact while playing quality defense at all three spots in the outfield.

+ OF/LHP Braxton Thiede (Jefferson, 2028) is firmly on our staff’s radar with what we’ve seen from the past and with the performance on Sunday. Thiede, an athletic two-way talent with a compact and strong build at 5-foot-9, 177 pounds, started his day by running an impressive 7.06 60 yard dash which was third best among the 2028’s in attendance. Next, he showcased his feel for the barrel with a twitchy and strong right-handed swing and was in the upper 80’s throughout the round with his exit velocity. On the mound, Thiede was up to 82 mph with two versions of the heater and deployed a tight breaking curveball and feel for a change up. There is a lot to be excited about with Thiede as he continues to develop.
LHP/OF Braxton Thiede (Jefferson High, 2028) is an upside southpaw from Saturday’s event. During his ‘pen Thiede sat in the mid-70s while running his riding fastball up to 77.5 mph. He was also able to kill spin on his changeup in the low-to-mid 60s. With the bat, he took controlled swings from the right-side, and flashed some feel for the barrel with a 86.2 mph max exit velocity.
