It wasn't Tanaka's best round of batting practice, but you can see all the tools in him. A 2027 graduate, he's left on left. At the plate he starts comfortably and works into his swing with a slight leg lift. He worked a bit downward and got beat a little bit, but when he was able to extend his hands and drive the ball, it looked right reaching a peak exit velocity of 95.9. Defensively he moves well and receives the ball comfortably, running up his velocity to 82 mph. We'll keep an eye on Tanaka as he develops & adds strength to his frame.
Tanaka's got tools written all over him, and while he didn't take his best swings, he's still time away from being judged on that. A 2027 graduate, he tends to fall into his backside as he swings, but when he was able to get on his front leg and put a strong swing on it, he did some damage, reaching a peak exit velocity of 92.5 mph, a carry distance of 338 feet while catching the sweet spot at a 75% mark. Defensively it plays well with his athleticism, reaching an arm velocity of 87 mph. We'll monitor Tanaka closely as he grows into his body.
