Batting in the leadoff spot for the Yellowjackets, Synegal looks much more like a senior than a sophomore when you see the frame, the LH swing, the approach, and the comfort he displayed going up against a high-quality upperclassmen arm. The load is simple with a short stride to the launch position, and the swing sequences effectively with the lower ½ leading the turn into a direct hand/barrel path that delivers the barrel with authority to contact. Synegal stays flatter through the zone, gearing his swing for leverage from line to line, but his awareness of where the barrel is and how to get it to contact was impressive. In a 2-1 count to open the game, he drilled an 89 MPH FB from Puebla for a rocket line drive that unfortunately found the 2B's glove, but he didn’t have any issues in his last two at-bats, each time ambushing an early FB for a strike to his pull side for extra base hits. The first of those was a torched line drive that landed just inside the RF foul line and went into the corner for a standup triple, and the second was another rocket line drive to RF, this time rolling to the fence for an easy double. Hitterish in how he approaches his at bats hunting pitches he can do damage on and not missing when he pulls the trigger there is plenty to love about where Synegal is at in his development process and I expect him to only continue getting better under the tutelage of the new Oxnard High School staff and should be a name to start working its way onto college recruiting follow lists.
