Solorio set the game off right for Sierra Canyon, going 3 scoreless to start the game. He relied on a FB and SL mix that got a lot of weak contact. He started the game sitting 85-88 with the FB and 75-77 with the SL. After the 3rd, the FB dropped a little in velo which very well could have been due to the long weight in the dugout as his team batted around in the 4th. Solorio showed his ability to work long into games as he pitched 6 innings. His run line doesn’t tell the full story as all 5 runs came from 2 home runs. I liked how Solorio challenged the opposing hitters as he threw the FB and offspeed for strikes. He didn’t get many whiffs or batters to chase, but he still found success in pitching to ground balls and trusting in his defense.
