The reactive strength index measurement of an athlete's explosiveness by comparing their jump height to the ground contact time in between their jumps. On a scale of 0-5.
The righthanded hitting SS from Royal has started to generate more buzz amongst scouts for the 2025 MLB draft with his strong start to his SR. campaign after a missed JR. season due to an injury. Hewitt continues to produce at a high level in game at the dish from a strong approach which remains disciplined with quality bat to ball and rarely misses a mistake from an opposing pitcher to hit the baseball hard. Even more impressive for me was the ability he showed in this look to adjust/adapt within the context of multiple at bats. After a not so good plate appearance to open the game (took two FBs before swinging/missing on a CB in the dirt) he put together two solid at bats before finally cracking through in his final trip to the plate turning around an 88 MPH FB from the Camarillo pitcher into LF for an RBI single. With each at bat of the game Hewitt became more comfortable/confident with his approach and when he got the mistake in a 2K count did not miss barreling a baseball. The offensive profile for Hewitt continues to round into form as a strong RH hitter with some polish, but still has projection for his future. For good measure the athletic Oregon commit jumped on the bump shortly after his RBI single stretched the game to 2-0 and struck out two of the three hitters he faced using a FB up to 91 MPH and a sweeping SLD which induced multiple whiffs.

Hewitt just continues to impress and will be a must see multiple times for me this spring as his profile continues to rise. Diving deeper on his defensive profile I really like the bounce and actions during INF/OF moving well laterally and downhill with confidence in his hands/feet. The arm path is a little long at times for SS but he can throw from different slots with accuracy and carry. Had one chance in game making a clean 6-3 out coming downhill on a medium-paced ground ball. At the plate the hands appeared looser and able to work more in the swing which allowed him to put the barrel on the ball consistently. He demonstrated a polished approach/swing decisions staying with the zone and with present bat speed/strength through the zone. He barreled three balls to the pull side in game (one foul / one for a triple / one for a double) and showed his strong run tool pushing the triple. Highly talented and getting even more comfortable and confident being back in game action the spring looks very bright, but the future for Hewitt looks even brighter.

Brady Hewitt, Royal High (CA), 2025 University of Oregon Positional Profile: SS/RHP Dynamic toolset with left side of the INF defensive profile that could stick at SS while showcasing loud impact at the plate from RH side with high level feel to hit. Plus, shows reliever profile with arm strength and spin to add to professional potential profile. Body: 6-1, 201-pounds. Shows present physicality with strength through upper and lower half Delivery: Hands set high and drop slightly to the chest then remain quiet as the front leg lifts to reach balance before leading down the mound with the front side. Small sit into the rear leg, but for most part stays taller with good stride length down the mound. Shows feel to use hips and can block on his front side with good body control. Can improve lower half and tap into more velocity potentially. Arm Action: RH. Longer arm path out of the glove with depth rearward and the explosive arm speed through the delivery with more of a 3/4 to high 3/4 slot at release. Has recoil after release. FB: T92, 89-91 mph. High spin offering which explodes out of the hand with riding life when executed in the zone and can run in on the hands of RHH T2527, 2434 average rpm. CB: 76-79 mph. Hard biting 2-plane offering with life and good spin that gives it whiff inducing quality, but needs polish to control/command T2660, 2587 average rpm. ATH: 6.81 runner in the 60. Explosive runner who drives off the line with burst and ability to build speed throughout.

Open stance with balanced set up up and slightly taller posture. Showing slight knee bend and minimal hip hinge. Hands are set at rear shoulder depth and height with more vertical bat angle and higher back elbow. Smooth load with small leg lift and shift of weight into backside before reaching launch position. Swing is explosive with aggressive tight rotation of his hips and hand speed delivering the barrel with present bat speed. Barrel gets into the zone early staying through the ball with impact. Feel to hit with power in profile. 77.2 mph bat speed with 13 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 105 max exit velocity, averaged 95.0 mph. 399' max distance. Consistently elevates the ball with loud authority from the middle of the field to pull side. Ball carries off bat giving him realistic power to straightaway CF and pullside with potential for opposite field HR power to come. Impact bat profile. Arm: RH. INF-88 mph. Slightly longer path out of the glove getting the ball with depth behind him and throws with present arm speed and carry to his throws. Arm profiles to handle SS or 3B. Defense: Plays with body control and athletic movements. Has confidence in his feet and comfort playing 2-handed while being able to move laterally/downhill with instincts. Can get slightly more dynamic, but he looks the part of SS/3B defender who will be solid to high level. ATH: 6.81 runner in the 60. Explosive runner who drives off the line with burst and ability to build speed throughout.

The uber talented Hewitt missed his JR spring/summer and nearly all the fall with an injury. Back healthy Hewitt took the high desert by storm throughout the day. Running a 6.8 60 and throwing 88 MPH across the INF with left side of dirt actions. Then during BP launched 95+ EVs throughout including a trio over 100 MPH with a 105.1 MPH 385’ bomb to LF. During the game he collected a hit, walked, stole 3 bases and for good measure took the bump sitting 89-92 MPH with a 2500+ rpm SLD. Hewitt is primed for a potential monster spring at Royal.
