First time seeing Strachan since the Inland Empire Preseason ID in early February and it was much of the same result in the batter's box, consistently on the barrel. He first had a single find the 5-6 hole that scored 2 runs and helped break the game open for RB and later smashed a double to the RCF gap that scored another runner. In addition, he also had a loud out earlier in the game that advanced a runner from second to third that eventually led to another Bronco run. Brady put himself in good hitters counts all game and took advantage of mistakes over the heart of the plate. Defensively, he looked sharp and athletic in RF and showed off his strong arm nearly gunning down a runner going 1st to 3rd on a single to right throwing the ball one hopped, on a line to 3rd base in the 7th inning. Expect Strachan to be a force in the middle of a very deep and junior class heavy Bronco offense this spring.
Strachan has been one of my players on the rise after seeing him last season. A part of a loaded 2026 core of players at Rancho Bernardo, Strachan was second on the team in average in his sophomore year. He brings a 6’0 ~170 lbs build with tons of athleticism. Strachan plays football and is a WR/Safety, this translates to his play in the outfield, taking efficient routes to track down balls. At Rancho Bernardo with plenty of wind pushing balls in right field, it is arguably the most difficult position in the outfield which Strachan plays with ease. At the plate, Strachan showed gritty at-bats, working counts and fouling off pitches to get to his pitch. When he got it, Strachan rocketed a hard line drive to the wall in left-center field. Hitting at the top of the lineup, he will have plenty of eyes on him as a top uncommitted outfielder in San Diego.
Strachan made the drive up the 15 freeway from San Diego and he proved the drive to be worthwhile. An athletic outfielder that covers lots of ground on the grass, Strachan opened with a 7.01 60 before the 6’ 167-pounder showed off his strong, accurate arm (83 OF velo) with throws that were on the bag at third while providing perfect long hops on throws to the catcher. At the plate, his 94mph exit velo was amongst the best of the session as was his hand speed at 22.6mph. He flashed a barrel filled batting practice driving balls to the pull side gap with ease with a 60% sweet spot percentage. Profiles as an extra base hitter with some future power potential. The frame is presently strong and has some projection, particularly in upper body strength with squared shoulders.
