This was my second look at Moddelmog, and he continued to shine out of the three-spot for Dublin, being the only player on either side to record multiple hits, racking up three hits and putting together four competitive AB’s. The 6’ 0”, 180 lbs MIF got the offense started in the 1st, roping a first-pitch SL low and in on the hands and sent it to deep RF for a triple, coming around to score on an IF single. The senior would then follow up with back-to-back singles on a line drive to RF and a perfectly placed bunt down the 3rd base line. Moddelmog would finish up his day at the plate by smoking a fly ball directly to the RF. The New Mexico State commit demonstrates an aggressive approach, with little swing-and-miss in his game (no whiffs on six swings). Moddelmog gets out in front of the baseball well, with a compact swing and good barrel control. Moddelmog didn’t see a lot of action at 2B today, but he made the routine plays look routine and showed some quick transfers on double play turns. From what I’ve seen previously, Moddelmog has fluid defensive actions at 2B, who gets good reads at the position. With a good athleticism on both sides of the ball, Moddelmog should continue to thrive as Dublin’s 3-hitter.
3/26/25
Hitting 3rd for Dublin, Moddelmog put together three quality AB’s and used an all fields approach at the plate as part of a two-hit day. Moddelmog opened with a hard-hit single into LF on a fastball up and away, later stealing 2nd easily without a throw. Moddelmog would lay down a perfect bunt down the 3rd base line, beating the throw to 1st on a bang-bang play in his second AB. Moddelmog would close out his afternoon by smoking a hard-hit ball directly to the 2B to end the 6th. At the plate, Moddelmog has a short stride, a direct bat path, and is quick through the zone, allowing for consistent bat-to-ball and loud contact. Getting the start at 2B, Moddelmog’s athleticism extends to the field with smooth defensive actions at the position. Moddelmog has a good first step, gets great reads off the bat, and displays an accurate arm. With these tools, I see Moddelmog playing plus defense anywhere on the IF at the next level.

Bay Area World Series Underclass (6/4/21-6/6/21)
Offensive notes: High Back Elbow, High Hands with slight crouch and uses a slight foot lift. Easy swing with quick barrel staying compact and direct allowing him to work gap-to-gap and causing damage when catching ball in front of plate. Regularly on pitches with good AB's during games and aggressive runner willing to add another dimension to his game. Projectable overall frame with athleticism and space for more growth. 60-yard - 6.90 / EV mph - 87
Defensive notes: Consistently athletic working through the ball with ability to show lateral range while keeping feet under him. Quick, accurate arm keeping it firm across the diamond; trusts the arm in workout and during the game knowing he can make all throws. During games was on time and ready making plays in INF and in OF when asked. SS mph - 81
Pitching notes: Athletic delivery with hands working up and down on high front leg sinking and driving down the hill from a strong back leg drive. Controlled intent and the head in the delivery with a compact 3/4 arm and strong tempo overall. FB was firm flashing late life in the zone. CB sharp and late overhand 12/6; short tight and chance to be a very good breaker. Tempo on the mound kept hitters uneasy for entire outing. FB 76-80 / CB 66-68
