Despite a tough league loss, Hilt delivered a strong all-around performance for TV. The 6-4, 190-pound right-hander tossed 7.2 innings while allowing just 1 ER on 5 hits, striking out 6, and walking 3 across 105 pitches. Although he took the loss in the decision, Hilt’s performance highlighted his advanced feel on the mound and also showed his continued offensive consistency at the plate. He opened the outing working 86-88 mph with the FB, showing occasional ride through the top of the zone before settling into the 82-85 mph range in the later innings. He filled the strike zone to all four quadrants and did so with a clear plan, sequencing pitches with intent and locating effectively. His best secondary throughout the day was the CH, sitting 77-78 mph with late fade and consistent arm speed. It became a reliable go-to pitch in leverage counts and induced several whiffs by Great Oak hitters. The SL, a 75-77 mph offering, flashed some late sweep and served as a solid third pitch that gave hitters another look. Hilt repeated his mechanics well throughout the outing, staying in control through his delivery and showing a clean, loose arm action. At the plate, Hilt continued to show why he’s an impact player on both sides of the ball. He opened his day with a sharp line-drive single to LF in the 1st and followed with a well-struck lineout to right in his second trip. His approach at the plate remains disciplined and balanced, allowing him to work to all fields. In my previous live look at him on April 16th, he picked up two hits, and today’s performance only reinforced the mature, contact-driven profile. He’s now hitting .379 (25-66) on the season. Physically, Hilt has plenty of room to grow into his 6-4 frame, and as he continues to mature, both his power and velocity are likely to tick up. His clean operation, projectable build, and ability to contribute as both a pitcher and a hitter make him a name to follow closely as he develops. Hilt has emerged as a reliable top-of-the-rotation arm for Temecula Valley, while continuing to drive offensive production from the middle of the order. His two-way upside is a good sight to see for the Golden Bears who are in the midst of fighting for a playoff spot in CIF Southern Section.
