Clovis West vs. Clovis

Reece Van Allen, RHP, Clovis West, 2025

Van Allen got the start today for Clovis West, the last time I had eyes on Van Allen was in the Fall during scout ball at Sac State. Clovis scattered a couple of hits early, but once Van Allen was able to settle in, he gave Clovis West a good shot to win the game. It was tough being the Clovis West offense having to face Georges on the other side. Van Allen was attacking with his fastball all game, he was able to command both sides of the plate and mix in a quick tempo making the Clovis hitters feel rushed at the plate. Van Allen has a loose arm action, the velocity on the fastball was sitting between 85-88 MPH T89, attacking north/south while the slider was his best secondary. The slider was sitting between 76-77 MPH with sharp bite, definitely got a lot of swing and misses from the Clovis hitters. Van Allen recently decommitted from Fresno Pacific University, so whoever picks up him will get a stud of a pitcher. The demeanor on the mound is noticeable from the crowd, when Van Allen is throwing, the game is going to move quickly.

Logan Georges, RHP, Clovis, 2026, TCU Commit

Georges was the star of the show in tonight’s game against Clovis West, due to a limited pitch count he only went through 3.2 IP with 65 pitches. Georges stands at about 6’4” 210 lbs, with an athletic frame, he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with when he adds some more strength. The delivery is very fluid and he’s got a heavy fastball coming out of his hand. In the beginning of the game, Georges was sitting between 89-91 MPH but as the game went on, his velocity ticked up sitting in the range of 92-93 MPH topping out at 94. Georges has run on the heater, making righties feel uncomfortable and throwing that paired with the slider, it was tough to find the barrel. There were a couple sliders that were thrown that made the Clovis hitters look silly, when he throws it harder for a strike three pitch, it's real. Georges has a get me over slider that plays almost like a curveball and doesn’t throw it as hard. The competitiveness Geroges possesses is going to carry him a long way in his career, he controls his emotions well and he has a very good feel for the strike zone. There is a changeup in the arsenal but he didn’t have to throw it much because the fastball and slider were working all day. Georges is one of the top arms in the Central Valley and proved it today, while his team’s record isn’t the best, he is still finding ways for his team to compete. When he gets back to full strength and able to go the distance, he will be a gamechanger.
