The Poway offense was almost entirely Gonzalez who went 3 for 3 with three singles and two RBI's. In the first at bat, Gonzalez battled through a gritty 10-pitch at bat. He took it to full count then proceeded to foul off three consecutive pitches and tattooed a single to center on the fourth. When watching this at bat, I saw a lot of comfortability from Gonzalez very deep in the count, an area where a lot of high school hitters can get sped up and overcomplicate things. In the second at bat, with runners on first and third, Gonzalez smoked a single over the second baseman to plate both those runners (2 RBI) and secure his second mashed single of the day. The third at bat was a simple, squared up ball between the 5 and a half hole. Gonzalez featured a squatted stance with a heavy pre load in the back hip. By doing so he maintained a stable, powerful base. The hands remained quiet throughout the load and stride but were quick and violent as the swing initiated. His swing was simple and repeatable which ultimately translated to a stellar 3 for 3 day. It is evident that Gonzalez has a lot of present confidence in his swing, approach, and presence at the plate.
