D Wood got the start for the Franklin Wildcats, after a hectic little first inning, Wood got settled into the game. The efficiency wasn’t there but Wood was still good enough to get out of multiple jams throughout the game. Command was the issue, early in the game the Whitney Wildcats took advantage of two walks in the first inning. The CB/SL mix was moving and grooving as Wood kept throwing those both over for strikes. Woods' ability to go to his other pitches when his primary ones aren’t working shows even when he doesn't have his best stuff, it's still good enough to get outs. The fastball was sitting between 89-92 MPH T93, CB was 72-74 MPH, SL 78-80 MPH. Wood has been working on a 2-seam fastball that he will mix in early in the count to hitters, works in offspeed and will attack with fastball up. The 2-seam has good movement, the velocity difference isn't much but the movement makes up for it. Wood will be fine later down in the season, him and Kyle Pott will be leading the charge for the Wildcats on the mound. A section championship wouldn’t be a terrible way to end the senior season.
