Positional Profile: C/3B Intriguing 2-way prospect who shows strength at plate with upside on the mound
Body: 6-3, 186-pounds. Strong sized frame with present strength while presenting room to add
Delivery: Good tempo in delivery with a clean operation including a high knee lift to around chest height with quiet hands. Drives down the mound with back side into foot strike which he showed the feel to stay online with his front side. Blocks well on his front side helping to maintain his direction to the glove with using lower 1/2 effectively to sync into upper body.
Arm Action: RH. Longer arm path in the delivery with depth in the backswing going below his hips while reaching behind his body then working to a 3/4 arm slot with quickness in the arm path. Delivery is relatively loose without recoil after release allowing for good control of his pitches.
FB: Controlled his FB well especially to the arm side which plays to the horizontal movement he creates on the pitch. More of a 2-seam type FB shape.
SL: SLD is a shorter tighter version pitch with almost cutter like break to it. Gives him a offering moving to his glove side to keep hitters honest.
CH: CHG flashed above average quality with arm side fade that he throws with conviction and arm speed. Moves on a similar plane to his FB with deception from velocity CHG induced swing/miss & soft contact.
ATH: Builds speed as he goes with longer strides covering ground as he reaches top speed.
Positional Profile: C/3B Intriguing 2-way prospect who shows strength at plate with upside on the mound
Body: 6-3, 186-pounds. Strong sized frame with present strength while presenting room to add
Hit: RHH. Wide even set up with feet nearly covering the entire batters box while getting into a crouch with his knees and deep high hand set up with a high back elbow and barrel tippe forward over his head. Utilizes a knee cock no stride load reminiscent of a young Albert Pujols while loading hands down into the slot. Uses quickness in his hip turn to generate bat speed/hand speed with an uphill path while maintaining balance in his lower 1/2. High finish helps with his approach to get the baseball in the air consistently.
Power: Natural strength to frame with uphill path and high finish all play to his ability to drive the baseball in the air. Exit velocities peaking near 100 MPH with average over 90 MPH and carry to ball after contact projects a middle to pull side of the field HR power potential.
Arm: RH. C-79 mph. Short quick transfer out of the glove almost like a bow/arrow motion. Shows arm speed with carry to his throws. Can lose release point effecting his throwing accuracy at times.
Defense: 1.96-2.07 pop times. Strength in frame/wrists gives ability to stick behind the plate. Receiving/mobility need to polish to reach full potential.
ATH: Builds speed as he goes with longer strides covering ground as he reaches top speed.
Positional Profile: C/3B Cappellazzo showed out last year at the Future Games. A strong skillset all around the field with plenty projection in the frame make him an exciting player.
Body: 6-3, 179.2-pounds. Tall lean and athletic build. Strength and size with good movements.
Hit: RHH. Wide stance with not much stride. Hands above his shoulder and weight edged onto his back foot. Fast hands that keeps the barrel through the zone.
Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 78.1 mph. 343' max distance.
Arm: RH. C-78 mph. INF-86 mph. Threw from a lower slot but maintained velocity and general accuracy.
Defense: 2.07-2.20 pop times. Moves well behind the plate and in the field.
ATH: 7.65 runner in the 60. 1.96 and 4.30 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 29.70 max vertical.
Event: Future Games Tryout: NorCal
Positional Profile: C/INF
Physical: 6-3, 185-pounds; Long, athletic frame with lots of room to fill out with long strides that cover ground; 7.40 60-yard, 4.03 30-yard, 1.7 10-yard
Offensively: RH. EV max – 99.8 mph, hand speed max – 23.4 mph, bat speed max – 75.8 mph; Upright, slightly closed stance with bat held behind the ear. Simple stride as a timing mechanism and easy swing that creates big-time juice to all fields.
Defensively: INF – 87 mph; C Velo - 81 mph; Pop Time 1.96 - 2.01 sec; Catching-wise, Cappellazzo has a clean transfer paired with solid quickness in his feet for his size. Showcased the athletic ability to throw from a lower 3/4 slot from behind the plate. During his infield workout, Cappellazzo once again proved his ability to whip the ball around from multiple different angles. Had soft hands and took direct routes to ground-balls.
