3/26/26
Martin turned in a dominant outing, going 5.1 innings with just 1 hit allowed, 0 runs, and 10 strikeouts across 99 pitches. The right-hander worked 88-90 mph, touching 91, pairing it with a 79-81 mph slurve that flashed as a true swing-and-miss offering. He battled command early, particularly with the fastball, but gradually settled in and took control of the outing as it progressed. A noticeable adjustment from last spring is a shift to a more over-the-top release point, which has added deception and made the ball tougher to pick up out of the hand. Early on, the change appeared to affect timing and body sync, but as he found rhythm, the execution improved. The secondary pitch showed varying shapes at similar velocities, and while there were occasional spikes, it became a wipeout option once he dialed it in, generating numerous uncomfortable swings. With a physical frame and clear strength gains — up from sitting 86-87 and topping at 89 last year — Martin’s profile continues to trend upward, with signs that more velocity could still be on the way.
4/16/25

Martin turned in a dominant outing, racking up 11 strikeouts over 5.2 innings and showcasing one of the more complete arsenals I have seen this spring. The right-hander worked with confidence and pace, flashing three quality pitches that all played off each other effectively. His FB sat 86-87 mph and topped at 89, jumping out of the hand with late life that allowed it to play up in the zone. The power CB at 77-80 mph was a true separator—tight rotation, sharp bite, and consistently used as a putaway pitch. He also showed an 83 mph CH with fading action that added another layer to his mix and kept hitters off balance. Martin created a tough look with his athletic lower half and smooth delivery, that allowed him to stay in rhythm while getting downhill efficiently. He generated a steady stream of uncomfortable swings and weak contact, keeping the lineup guessing from start to finish. So far in 2025, Martin owns a 2.02 ERA through seven appearances, and opponents are hitting just .157 against him. With a well-rounded arsenal, repeatable mechanics, and the ability to miss bats in bunches, Martin has all the traits of a high-level arm with plenty more in the tank.
