4/25/25
In my second look at Fowler on the season, Fowler was one of only two players to record multiple hits in the low-scoring affair. Fowler would open his day by smacking an 0-1 CH inside to RF for a leadoff single, hitting just off the diving RF’s glove. After just swinging over a 2-2 CB low in the zone in his second AB, Fowler would round out his day by smoking another liner to RF for a 1B. With a contact-heavy approach at the plate and a simple load, Fowler relies on his quick hands and being able to stay inside the baseball well. With a bat path that stays flat through the zone well, Fowler is consistently able to make hard contact on FB’s. With a slight adjustment in his load that would allow him to get into stay back in his lower half more and create more separation at the plate, I can see Fowler increasing his bat-to-ball skills on all secondary offerings with the potential for an increase in power as well. After seeing the confidence/mid-game adjustments Fowler displayed on the mound in my first time seeing him, I’m inclined to think that Fowler can make said changes quickly and continue to make an impact on both sides of the ball.

Beginning the game in the leadoff spot for Foothill, Fowler moved to the mound in the top of the sixth inning and left his stamp on the game with 2 IP, 0 H, 2 K, 2 BB, and 0 BB out of the pen. The 6’ 0” lefty exhibited immediate confidence with his fastball, sitting 80-83 mph, spotting it well at the knees and inside to right-handed hitters. The fastball also exhibited good arm-side run, generating whiffs on the outer third of the plate to righties. This played well with his big-breaking curveball, sitting 65-67 mph. Helped by his over-the-top delivery, Fowler used his curveball as a chase pitch when ahead in counts and to get a strike call early. Despite becoming a bit erratic in his second inning of work, Fowler settled in and generated weak contact across the two innings, with the hardest hit ball being a weak liner to third base. At the plate, Fowler shows a selective approach, drawing three walks out of the leadoff spot and working multiple deep counts. Fowler demonstrates confidence on both sides of the ball and looks to be a strong back-end piece of Foothill’s bullpen.
