The ace of the Bulldogs staff, Aragon, presents an interesting frame with long limbs and a loose, wiry build that projects to keep adding strength over his final years of high school and into his college career. His delivery is low effort with a taller posture, which allows him to stay on top or behind all of his pitches, which suits an arsenal that plays better down in the zone than up in the zone with an east/west attack profile that generates softer contact and more balls on the ground than in the air. His FB lived at 83-86 throughout his five innings of work on a hot (90+ degrees throughout the game) with sink and run to the arm side, which he features predominantly. Backing up the FB with a quality SLD that lived at 73-75, but did bump a 76 and drop down to 71 when missing to the arm side. The shape isn’t powerful, but he controls it at a good rate, and it tunnels effectively from his FB when thrown down in the zone, getting it to play above the pure power on the offering. He has a CHG in the upper 70’s, but it was thrown infrequently vs. a predominantly RH hitting lineup of Quartz Hill. His overall package of present ability and future upside presents a long-term starting pitcher profile when he heads off to campus at Northwestern in Iowa.
