Freshman pitchers at JSerra aren’t the norm, so when you see one you immediately know that Brett Kay believes they’ve got a chance to be special down the road. That’s certainly the case with Janeski, the No. 4 ranked player in California’s 2028 class. At 6’3” his size belies his age and the only thing that trumps his size is his stuff on the mound. With a fastball at 86-88mph, the pitch flashes some run back to the arm side that allows him to start pitches on the outer half and still catch the corner for strikes. The slider at 73-74mph flashes late break away from righties with some sharpness that has potential to develop into a true weapon. Showed a change up at 80-81mph with late fade to lefties and at the back foot of righties. Adds some deception with a full shoulder turn showing his numbers to the hitters before his loose, whippy arm blazes through a low 3/4 slot with some effort. Tunnels all his pitches well and is an easy mover on the mound.
