2026 LHP Kieran Smith, El Camino HS – Cal State San Marcos commit

The LHP opened the game issuing a walk followed by a double, quickly putting himself in a tough spot early. Smith showed composure and competitiveness in a runners on second and third, no outs situation, digging deep to strike out the side and escape the inning. From there the southpaw settled in and cruised through five strong innings, allowing just one run that came on a suicide squeeze. Smith works primarily off a two-seam fastball that shows notable ride through the zone, sitting 83–84 mph and touching 85. He complements the fastball with a sharp 12/6 curveball around 72 mph that he can land early in counts as well as use as a two-strike pitch. He also showed strong feel for the changeup to right-handed hitters, throwing it with fastball intent while generating slight fade and roughly a 7 mph separation from the heater. Through 10.2 innings this season, Smith has recorded 19 strikeouts, translating to a strong 16.8 K/9. The El Camino product finished the outing with a final line of 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 8 K and is a pitcher to keep an eye on as the season progresses and Avocado League play approaches.
