Devericks is another Fr. who started the year on the lower levels of the St. Bonaventure program, but has played his way to the varsity level and is now seeing playing time. It’s a solid present frame with some early strength development to his frame, but as he matures and improves his build/athleticism there is interesting future physicality to the RH hitting INF. On the dirt his actions were solid at present with consistent hands and transfer during INF/OF and in-game while showing feel for his footwork and a solid arm to profile as a 2B/3B defender. Where Devericks caught my eye was in his two in-game at bats where the operation in the box was interesting with a high quality present swing. The RH hitter uses his lower ½ effectively in the turn with feel to use his back leg and body to stay behind the baseball at contact, but can improve the consistency versus higher level pitching. His bat to ball is sound with leverage through the zone in his swing and sound present bat speed that will improve as he matures. While he didn’t record a hit during those two at bats he demonstrated the sound foundation to compete as a Fr. playing on the varsity level and flashes interesting upside as an offensive piece making another 2028 who I will need to keep tabs on going forward for the Seraphs program.
