Ponsford turned in a productive afternoon at the plate, finishing with three hits, two of which were struck with authority in the 3-4 hole. His third knock came on a well-executed two-out bunt single up the third-base line, showing both feel for the game and the ability to use his speed to pressure the defense. The left-handed hitter handled velocity well throughout his plate appearances and showed a willingness to battle in deeper counts. An athletic infielder with a dependable bat from the left side, Ponsford continues to show why he’s been a consistent producer in the San Marcos lineup. A career .359 varsity hitter with a .951 OPS, he combines solid bat-to-ball skills with a disciplined approach, often adjusting with two strikes to keep the at-bat alive and still produce quality contact. With that balanced offensive profile, Ponsford looks positioned to once again be a key run producer as he prepares for the next level with San Diego.
