Noah Hunter took the ball as the starter for Edison High School and put together a strong, composed outing on the bump, tossing four quality innings while striking out four batters and keeping opposing hitters off balance throughout. The right-hander impressed with a well-rounded pitch mix, commanding the zone and sequencing effectively to keep hitters guessing. Hunter's presence on the mound stood out right away, as he operated with confidence and showed an advanced feel for how to pitch. Working from a lower three-quarter arm slot, Hunter creates natural deception and movement on his pitches, especially with his ability to pronate through release, enhancing the action on his offspeed. His changeup was especially effective, displaying late fading action and proving to be a weapon against both right-handed and left-handed hitters. It tunneled well off his fastball and forced weak contact in big moments. However, it was his slider that served as his go-to pitch, thrown with confidence in a variety of counts. The slider showed tight spin and depth, consistently missing barrels and inducing whiffs. Mechanically, Hunter brings a unique look to the mound with a twitchy, athletic leg kick and a long, lengthy frame that allows him to extend well down the slope. He gets into his legs with efficiency and his stride length helps him close distance to the plate, creating uncomfortable at-bats for hitters.
