Villa delivered a strong outing, striking out five over four innings while allowing just two hits and two walks on 55 pitches. The right-hander leaned heavily on his 85-87 mph fastball, which showed ride through the zone and helped him consistently challenge hitters. He stayed around the strike zone throughout, attacking early and limiting hard contact. Villa mixed in a 68-69 mph curveball and a 71-74 mph changeup, changing speeds effectively to keep hitters off balance. His frame and overall stuff have taken noticeable strides over the last year since I first saw him in the early part of 2025. After working mostly in relief as a sophomore — posting a 2.88 ERA across 24.1 innings — Villa continues to trend upward and looks capable of providing quality starter innings for Rancho Bernardo this spring.
