In a game with plenty of evaluators in attendance, Ricken showed exactly why he's one of the most highly regarded right-handed arms in CA’s 2025 class. The LSU commit turned in a dominant, eight-inning shutout performance, striking out 11 batters while allowing just three hits across 105 pitches. From the 1st inning, Ricken’s FB commanded attention, sitting 92-94 mph and touching 95 early, with late life and carry through the zone. Even as he settled at 90-92 mph later in the game, the FB continued to generate swings and misses and allowed him to stay aggressive in the zone. He paired it with a deep secondary arsenal: a 77-81 mph power CB with tight spin and vertical break, and a hard 84-86 mph SL with lateral action (though he did occasionally miss glove side against RHHs). The most intriguing pitch however, was the CH at 87-88 mph that showed noticeable improvement as the outing went on. By the later innings, the CH had turned into a legitimate out pitch, tunneling well off the FB and inducing weak contact and awkward swings. Mechanically, Ricken works with a controlled, repeatable delivery. He maintains body control well through his finish and stays compact through the arm path. There’s a steady presence on the mound—he doesn't rush or overthrow, instead relying on his natural strength, clean operation, and pitchability to do the work. His frame (6-5, 220) is both physical and athletic, with room for continued strength gains without sacrificing mobility. Ricken’s competitive fire was also on full display. Not only did he keep his composure in tight spots, but he also walked it off at the plate with a barreled single in the bottom of the 8th to lead Great Oak to a dramatic 1-0 win over Temecula Valley. A true two-way impact on the day. Now sitting with a 0.44 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 31.2 innings, the No. 4, '25 RHP in CA has firmly established himself as a player to follow for this summer’s MLB Draft. The command, stuff, body, and pitch mix all scream high-ceiling arm, and Thursday's performance added another exclamation point to a strong spring.

With plenty of eyes on him this afternoon, Ricken, the LSU commit, delivered a dominant performance, throwing two scoreless innings while allowing just one walk and striking out six. He had exceptional command, effectively locating his fastball in all four quadrants of the zone. The fastball had life where he sat 92-94mph and topped at 95. His slider that sat at 83-84mph had late bite, working side to side and was a true swing-and-miss pitch, showing advanced feel and consistency. At the plate, Ricken added an RBI double, further showcasing his offensive ability. With his strong, physical presence and ability to hit to all fields, he continues to prove his value as a two-way talent. Ricken remains a highly regarded MLB Draft prospect for 2025 with significant potential.
