Warner is a standout football player who was an All-League performer as a defensive lineup and his physical, strong frame portrays that background with well-developed strength across the entire frame. In his first full campaign on the varsity level as a baseball player (played on JV in 2024) Warner’s strength and feel to hit has put together an interesting offensive profile. In my second look at him in a game this spring the RH hitter has consistently made hard contact mainly to the pull side of the field. His operation in the box is simply with a quiet load and consistent base to fire the barrel with a compact swing path that has leverage in the path while showing a strong feel to find his barrel at contact. He turned on a pair of upper 80’s FBs in his first two at bats for a pair of doubles (one off the top of the fence in LCF just missing a HR, the other down the LF line) and then later in the game stayed on a 2K offering for a hard hit L-8 to straight away CF. In 10+ swings on the day over four at bats Warner only whiffed once on a 2K CHG and in nearly 20 swings over the two games I’ve seen it’s the only whiff I’ve seen out of him against solid pitching. The swing itself is geared more towards leverage and line drive contact, but with some small tweaks potentially to his hand set up or posture he could produce more loft and tap into a solid to strong power profile from the RH side.

Bret Warner, Thousand Oaks High (CA), 2026 Positional Profile: C Rising defensive profile that continues to get better while adding strength in his offensive toolset. Body: 6-2, 225-pounds. Thick body with present strength in upper/lower body. Hit: RHH. Medium width foot set up with even toes and small bend of his knees and hip hinge. Low back elbow with hands close to head just above shoulder height and barrel tipped towards 3B dugout. Shifts weight into backside to start his load with a small leg lift into the forward move with balance at launch position. Aggressive with his hips and hands in the swing that shows strength through the zone. Stays taller in his posture with a direct path that has leverage through the zone into a short finish. Ball jumps off the bat. 66.3 mph bat speed with 12 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 80.1 mph. 311' max distance. Shows an even spread of Flyball/Line Drive/Ground ball contact with solid present top end EV that could improve with improved barrel path. Shows middle of the field leverage with ability to lift the ball to pull side. Doubles profile, but has HR power in profile. Arm: RH. C-77 mph. Transfers just below the chest off his body with a short arm action that gets the ball out of his hand quickly. Solid present arm speed with carry to his throws. Can clean up mechanics/footwork to improve accuracy. Defense: 2.00-2.10 pop times. Solid receiver who has the strength durability to stay behind the plate. Can improve agility/mobility to improve block. ATH: 7.86 runner in the 60. Builds speed as he goes with taller posture and body control.
