This was my first look at Casazza, with the senior reaching base four times out of the leadoff spot and putting up three consecutive hard-hit balls to close out his day. Standing at 5’ 5” and 135 lbs, I became intrigued by his offensive profile over the course of the day. Casazza demonstrates a great understanding of the strike zone, beginning his day with back-to-back 4 pitch BB’s. After a hard-hit, run-scoring double play to 2nd in his third trip, Casazza would take advantage of FB’s in his next two AB’s, lining one into RF and sending a hard-hit grounder back up the middle for back-to-back RBI singles. Casazza shows good bat-to-ball skills with a smooth, RH swing, relying on a contact-oriented approach at the plate. Getting into his front side well, Casazza has the potential to become more of a gap-to-gap hitter at the next level as he adds to his frame. The senior showed good speed and athleticism, adding a couple of stolen bases and scoring on a wild pitch thanks to a quick read on a ball in the dirt. With little swing-and-miss in his game, Casazza should continue to be an igniter out of the leadoff spot for Lido.
