Williams was a must see 2027 for me after his loud workout at the 2025 Central California Preseason All State event in January and this look backed up his rising profile in the 2027 class. With an athletic build at 6’4 and some present strength to a frame which still projects to continue adding strength as he matures in the future, Williams quickly passes the eye test. Then once the game starts his athleticism shows up all over the field (Williams is a standout FB player as well) which on this day included him starting at SS where he looked very comfortable playing with smooth hands, comfort playing downhill to his glove side and throwing arm side (flashes one-hand & two-hand ability) with the arm strength to be a solid SS although his profile would play even higher at 3B should his future defensive home wind up on the INF dirt (is a catcher who shows a strong future profile at the premium spot). While as fun as the future is for where Williams can wind up defensively, the loudest tool in a very strong arsenal of tools is what he does in the batters box. Williams is a converted switch hitter, but currently only hitting RH in games as he continues to get more comfortable with his LH swing (showed upper 90’s EVs at the Central CA PSAS from LH side with consistent hard contact) and the operation in the box is impressive. He controls his load into the launch position with natural body control while flashing rhythm/timing to track pitches with comfort which led to a high quality approach over five plate appearances. His emerging physicality and ease of getting to his top end bat speed with feel to use his lower ½ effectively for an aggressive turn generates real present power to the middle of the field as evidenced by a rocket 3-run homer just to the RCF side of straightaway CF (he launched several deep drives to CF at Central CA PSAS) and has the feel of a future line to line power profile. But, power is not his only tool at the plate as Williams demonstrates a sound approach/feel to hit including ability to adjust within an at-bat (fouled off an early low CB in second AB and then laid off three more later in at bat to draw a walk) and plate coverage (punched a 1B to RF on a hit and run by covering a breaking ball down and away) then was disciplined to not expand the zone over his final two plate appearances when he was pitched around to draw two more BBs. With intriguing defensive versatility, loud present offensive ability, athleticism in his actions, emerging physicality in his frame and projection still ahead of him Williams is making an impressive rise up the board in 2027 and will be a must follow for college coaches this summer ahead of the August, 1st contact date.

Gavin Williams, Garces Memorial high school (CA), 2027 Positional Profile: C/SS Highly talented versatile player who shows strong defensive profile at C with potential to play corner INF/OF and adds a loud offensive profile with feel to hit and power from both sides of the plate. Body: 6-4, 190-pounds. Athletic build with present strength emerging and plenty of room to add. Hit: SH. RH: Taller posture with small knee bend and hip hinge from a narrow open foot set up. Hands and rear elbow are set low with hands below his shoulder height and barrel tipped vertically towards the sky. LH: Very similar set up with the hands set slightly deeper behind his body. RH: controlled load with shift into back hip and medium leg lift into launch position. Hands push back to separate from the hips in the turn. Sinks into rear knee during the turn to allow his direct hand path and direct barrel path to get up through the baseball to get the ball in the air. Shows present bat speed with quickness in the turn from an athletic operation. LH: Similar operation to the RH side with more control to the turn and slighlty less sink into his rear leg. Hands/barrel are still direct with flat path that generates more line drive contact with impact off the bat. 73.6 mph bat speed with 10 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 101 max exit velocity, averaged 95.1 mph. 360' max distance. RH: Power plays to middle/pull side of the field with present carry and intriguing top end EVs that show full field power profile. LH: slighlty less top end impact from LH side with a slighlty flatter path that profiles a little more hit than power on LH side but still shows pull impact and middle of the field carry. Arm: RH. C-79 mph. INF-79 mph. Arm plays well behind the plate with present arm speed and quickness in his transfer and ability to get the ball online to the base. Can polish footwork and body to improve, but shows high level throwing potential. Defense: 1.90-2.00 pop times. Versatility in his profile defensively, but the foundation of his toolset behind the plate should project there long term with interesting upside because of athletic ability/frame. ATH: 7.21 runner in the 60. Athletic runner who shows body control and ability to maintain his speed/stride throughout.

Uber intriguing Williams is fresh off a fall playing QB for Garces but showed up to Antelope Valley College and showed his upside across the board. Checking in just under 6’4 at 6’3.8” and weighing 190 lbs. Williams ran a 7.2 60 while looking the part both behind the plate with a 79 MPH C velo and 1.9 - 2.0 pop times, plus looking more than comfortable moving around at SS and the OF! During BP he put on a loud display from each side of the plate from a smooth explosive operation that went 100+ EV on RH side and just under 100 EV from LH side. He showed well in game still needing to fully get game timing back but the potential Williams shows plus his energy playing the game makes for a very bright future.
