VENTURA, CALIF. - With the 2025 CIF-High School baseball seasons coming to a close it's time for the awards and recognition season alongside the playoffs. In the last 6+ months (dating back to the start of Fall/Winter exhibition season through High School seasons end) I've had the chance to see over 70+ high school baseball games with eyes on talented players all over the Central Coast region of California down into the Northern region of Los Angeles and out into the High Desert with eyes on hundreds of 2027 uncommitted players.

All of these live looks have been documented within the various versions of Hardy's Hits and the California Scout Blog with my evaluations of the players I've had the chance to see play live. Pulling from those hundreds of uncommitted players seen across the 2027 class and those who made appearances in a  Hardy's Hits or California Scout Blog I dove into their statistical performances during their spring seasons on the High School Varsity level.

From those live looks and the statistical review I've organized these players into three separate squads (based on statistical performance, my evaluations, accounting for competition level played against and additionally accounting for future potential). While projection of the future abilities for players is accounted for in my selection process the actual statistical performance while accounting for the division at which the players high school program competes against carried more weight than future potential.

For the 2027 class I will be honoring a: First Team & Second Team. For each team I've selected a catcher, two corner INFs, two middle INFs, three OFs, a RHP, a LHP, a DH and a Utility (two-way).

Note: This is not a ranking of the top uncommitted players in this region, but rather a recognition of the top performing uncommitted players in the 2027 class from the 2025 High School season who I've personally seen play and wrote up.

First Team:

Catcher:

+ Gavin Williams Garces Memorial High School

Williams is one of the top ranked 2027 players in the state of California and the Bakersfield based backstop has showed the ability in several live looks dating back to the Showcase circuit in summer 2024 before standing out at the 2025 Central California Preseason All State and then an outstanding showing during Week 9 of the California Scout Blog. For his Soph. campaign Williams powered the Rams offense by hitting .324 with five homers, one triple, two doubles, 19 RBIs, 21 runs scored, walking 19 times and posting an OPS of 1.081.

Corner INF:

+ Jacory Smith Foothill Tech High School

Smith is a versatile defender who has seen time on the corner INF and corner OF with an impressive power bat that showed well during the 2024 Future Games Tryout: Ventura County and 2025 Central California Preseason All State before making a pair of appearances in the California Scout Blog during Week 3 and Week 5 of the spring season. For his Soph. campaign smith posted .333 average with seven doubles, drove in 12 runs and scored 16 runs for a Dragons team that earned a CIF-SS playoff berth.

Corner INF:

+ Luc Beauchemin St. Bonaventure High School

Beauchemin is an interesting switch hitter who has shown the versatility to play all over the INF dirt and stood out first at the Central California Preseason ID event before making an apperance in both the Week 1 and Week 5 versions of the California Scout Blog. Beachemin found a home near the top of the St. Bonaventure lineup as a Soph. where the switch hitter posted a .366 average while posting four doubles, one homerun and drove in 10 runs, scored 24 runs plus stole eight bases as a the Seraphs catalyst to a league title and CIF-SS playoff berth.

Middle INF:

+ Cole Munyon Newbury Park High School

Munyon was a full time starter as a Fr. on varsity at Newbury Park in 2024 and then slid over to play SS this year as a Soph. where the highly talented SS flashed his long term potential to stick there defensively to go with an intriguing offensive profile. The RH hitter sat in the middle of the Panthers lineup this spring and appeared in the Week 12 version of the California Scout Blog after multiple appearances in Hardy's Hits in 2024. Munyon posted a .352 average while hammering six doubles, three homers, driving in eight runs, scoring 19, with a 1.022 OPS and 12 BBs on the spring.

Middle INF:

+ Nick Gonzales Highland High School

Gonzales parlayed a strong showing at the 2025 Central California Preseason All State into a strong showing during Week 4 of the California Scout Blog in a game against Quartz Hill. Gonzales manned the SS position for the Bulldogs and found a home near the top of their lineup where his numbers backed up the strong toolset he possesses by posting a .417 average with six doubles, six triples, driving in 13 runs and scored 29 runs helping Highland to a CIF-SS playoff berth.

OF:

+ Stone Saunders Dos Pueblos High School

Saunders took over the top spot in the Chargers lineup while holding down the premium defensive spot of the CF for a team that earned a CIF-SS playoff berth in 2025 and the RH hitter made an apperance in Week 8 of the California Scout Blog. Facing varsity pitching for the first time on a full time level in 2025 the Soph. from Santa Barbara, Calif. posted an intriguing .369 average for the spring with six doubles, two triples, drove in eight runs, scored 20 runs, stole 18 bags and drew 10 BBs with an impressive .992 OPS for the year.

OF:

+ Patrick Foster San Marcos High School

Foster held down a spot in the lower portion of the Royals lineup in Santa Barbara, Calif. full time as a Fr. posting a strong year, but the LH hitting CF took the next step in a Soph. campaign where I saw him on several occasions each time looking solidly like a tablesetter profile. The numbers Foster posted back up an upward trending profile as an athlete/college level prospect with the LH hitter hitting .404 with two doubles, driving in 19 runs, scoring 19 runs and stealing 12 bases.

OF:

+ Evan Rodriguez Simi Valley High School

The Pioneers baseball program earned an impressive Coastal Canyon League title in 2025 and the RH hitting versatile defender (C/OF) Rodriguez was the top offensive piece on their team. Rodriguez backed up an impressive showing at the 2024 Future Games Tryout: Ventura County by making the Week 7 version of the California Scout Blog with multiple high quality looks for myself and for Vinnie Alfino. Rodriguez hit an impressive .432 with 10 doubles, one triple, driving in 28 runs and scoring another 20 runs hitting in the middle of the Simi Valley lineup.

DH:

+ Dezi Delgado Sierra Canyon High School

Delgado earned the starting backstop position at Sierra Canyon as a Fr. where the LH hitter put together a strong showing hitting all over the Sierra Canyon lineup. His showing during the Winter Baseball season earned him a spot in Hardy's Hits from January for 2025 (also appeared in Hardy's Hits in 2024). This spring the Sierra Canyon program earned a CIF-SS D2 playoff berth with the performance Delgado put together at the plate earning him Offensive Player of the Year and MVP as a Soph. for Sierra Canyon facing high level Mission League pitching all year.

RHP:

+ J. Beckett Berg Notre Dame High School

Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) High School is a notorious pitching factory in this area and Beckett Berg has placed himself right in the mix to be the next elite arm to come through the Knights program. During December of 2024 Berg made an appearance in Hardy's Hits after his outing against Royal High School in a Winter Baseball scrimmage. As a Soph. this spring the righthander tossed 34 innings while striking out 28 hitters, walking only six on the spring with a 2.47 ERA and won two games for the CIF-SS D2 playoff bound Notre Dame program.

LHP:

+ Tanner Wilson Santa Barbara High School

Wilson filled an important bullpen role for the Dons program which earned a share of the Channel League title for back to back titles in 2025. Wilson appeared in the Week 8 version of the California Scout Blog. The southpaw featured a solid present arsenal to go with a future that looks likely headed to the rotation as Jr. when the Dons graduate a pair of Sr. starters this spring. For his Soph. campaign Wilson tossed 33 innigs with 23 Ks out the Sant Barbara pen with a 2.55 ERA and earned two wins himself.

UTL:

+ Nicholas Salcido Dos Pueblos High School

Salcido saw some time on the varsity level during his Fr. campaign in the Dos Pueblos program, but this spring the wiry, athletic INF defender and RHP found himself a full time role at 3B while providing work on the mound in a relief role. Salcido appeared in the Week 3 and Week 5 versions of the California Scout Blog and was strong in live look over the MLK Weekend during 2025. Salcido hit primarily near the top of the Chargers lineup posting a .318 average with a double, five RBIs, 10 runs scored, a .421 OBP with 8 BBs equal to his Ks. He threw 15 innings over seven appearances with 13 Ks on the spring winning two games with a save and posting a 4.20 ERA.
