Big week for the future Triton as Henson became eligible following the 30-day transfer rule and he wasted no time making his presence felt. He recorded two barrels at the plate today. First one being a hard ground ball single and then later in the 5th, smoked a low line drive that ate up the second baseman and rolled all the way to the wall. It ended up being ruled a double in the box score. It’s a simple, compact swing that stays in the zone a long time for Henson. He did a good job working the count and not chasing out of the zone, as he also walked in the ballgame. Behind the plate, Henson flashed strong defensive tools. He was 1.96–2.02 on pop times in between innings, with a clean transfer and consistent footwork. He handled his staff well and showed leadership behind the dish. Just two days before, he jumped on the mound and was up to 93 mph, showing big-time arm strength and athleticism. With his versatility, high-level tools, and impact ability on both sides of the ball, Henson looks poised to be a difference-maker for the Patriots from here on out as he is already making noise in his return to action.

Henson is coming off of a transfer sitout and will be a bat consistently featured in the Patrick Henry lineup. That being said, Henson stole the show when he stepped up on the mound. He quickly established his FB in the low 90s, consistently hitting 92 with ease and touching 93 mph five separate times and only dipping below 91 three times in his first inning. The arm is quick and whippy with a shorter catcher-like arm path. The slider (80-82 mph) looked good, showing sharp late horizontal and vertical break. There were some slight control issues, getting into a couple of full counts but Henson worked through it for two scoreless innings. Considering he is a primary catcher and hasn’t pitched in a live setting, the sample size is encouraging to what is another piece of the very talented Patrick Henry pitching staff.
