The sophomore catcher had a monster day at the dish, consistently finding the barrel and impacting the ball to all fields. He started by grounding a hard single through the 4–3 hole before following it up with a double into the RCF gap that rolled to the wall and plated a run. The swing looked similar to what he showed the last time I saw him, balanced with the ability to drive the ball with authority. Later in the bottom of the fifth, he got a 2–0 count and lined a ball to LCF that carried over the wall for a game-tying HR. He finished the day with a pull-side single that short-hopped the wall, spraying hard contact around the yard while showing aggressive turns and present speed on the bases. Behind the plate, he continues to show athleticism, clocking a 1.96 pop time between innings and nearly throwing out a runner during the game with the tag just late. The physicality and athletic traits are already present, and with the production showing early as a sophomore, he’s someone worth continuing to follow as his game develops over the next couple of years.
