Lombard, the No. 3 player in the ‘26 class, made a strong case for climbing to the top spot in coming years with his showing at the NPI. Uber athletic with a 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame that promises plenty of future physicality, the right-handed hitting shortstop looked the part as the most imposing hitter in the class. Staying behind the ball while quickly working the barrel endlessly through the zone, the near triple digit exit velocities that he produced to all fields screamed high upside and exciting potential. There is a quiet confidence to his approach at the plate, and it hardly takes any effort for his bat speed to be produced. On the infield he moves with the same confidence and grace, and his premium position profile already makes him a must-follow prospect in the class.
